We are recruiting a permanent position as Vibromechanical development engineer in the Technology development department, reporting to Director Technical Development. The role requires a highly motivated and curious, both theoretical and practical technology development engineer.

In this role you will help Cochlear to realize its mission by exploring new technologies, designing and testing concepts and features in a cross functional group by providing technical knowledge. You will be a part of the Technology Development team which consists of people with different backgrounds working with developing technologies, platforms, concepts and prototypes which will be used to enable Cochlear fulfill the vision of bringing life changing hearing solutions to our customers. The purpose of the team is to innovate, generate patents, explore new technologies, create functional concepts and prototypes and support the organization with technical investigations. At the heart of our product is the vibration generating mechanism which enables hearing through bone conduction and your part will be to contribute to in depth knowledge in vibroacoustics, electromagnetic and piezo actuators, mechanical design and vibrational performance.

The role of the Vibromechanical development engineer at Technology Development is to develop new bone conduction applications to improve hearing performance of our customers. The role includes the development of vibroacoustics and mechanical design, optimisation of actuator by simulation, building and testing, support the organization with knowledge within the vibrational aspects on bone conduction audiology and prototype testing. The role will partly work closely with product development and clinical testing to provide the necessary understanding of the technical hearing performance of our products.

In this role you will:

  • Define critical questions for new concepts, create and execute plan to have them answered.
  • Design and evaluate different prototype configurations of bone conduction systems.
  • Increase our knowledge of different aspects of vibroacoustics and actuator design.
  • Develop and apply methods to evaluate concepts.
  • Contribute with improvement ideas on sound processing systems.
  • Develop and integrate technology into future products.

You Bring Your Skills and Experience

As we grow bone conducted solutions business, we are looking for people with highly specialized skills and capabilities who share our passion for delivering quality hearing solutions to our customers.

  • University technical degree.
  • Demonstrated experience of working in cross functional teams.
  • Relevant qualifications in vibroacoustics, mechanics, electromagnetism or vibration related technologies.
  • Experience in testing, analysis and technical investigations.
  • The ability to solve problems and collaborate to get work done that delivers benefits for Cochlear’s customers.
  • A commitment to lifelong learning and development.
  • Identify and support the implementation of continuous improvement.
  • Experience in Matlab.
  • Fluent in English with good writing and presentation skills in both.
  • Experience to all key Microsoft Office applications (MS Excel, Word, Power Point).
  • A responsible attitude to working safely and building the safety culture.



  • Fluent in Swedish
  • Experience in computer aided simulation (ANSYS, Comsol etc.)
  • Knowledge about IP.
  • Clinical testing.
  • Experience in working in with innovation and product development.
  • Competency in research design, data collection and statistical analysis.
  • Experience and history of working with hearing, bone conduction and communication technology
