An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Audiological professional with Cochlear Implant experience to join our well established, enthusiastic team of Clinical Business Managers. You must be qualified to either BSc or MSc level in audiology and have proven track record in clinical practice.

You will be responsible for providing high quality clinical, technical and business support to our clinics in a defined territory to drive and monitor business growth. You will need to develop and maintain key relationships and expand market opportunities. This post also requires representation at national and international symposia and training events.

This field based role will require significant travel both nationally and on occasion internationally, with attendance at our UK Cochlear office in Surrey as required.

Key accountabilities:

Sales Management:

•  Create demand and obtain orders through value selling
•  Drive and monitor business growth through targeted campaigns
•  Develop and maintain key opinion leader relationships
•  Develop and maintain a good working knowledge of the health care system in the territory and keep up to date with all developments both economic and political that may impact on the business
•  Support the clinics in all commercial matters
•  Coordinate support  when required of other internal departments
•  Ensure the highest level of professional service to all relevant NHS or private clinics and purchasing contracts
•  Expand market opportunities through strategic execution of market growth opportunities e.g. adults, simultaneous bilaterals and sequentials
•  Establish throughout the territory new service partners and support internal plans i.e. contracts and Cochlear Care in order that the ever increasing patient base is fully served
•  Take ownership of tender review meetings and tender submissions within territory
•  Achieve the highest level of customer satisfaction and performance levels required by Cochlear


Planning & Forecasting:

•  Identify market, customer and technology opportunities
•  Implement plans in conjunction with marketing, customer care and business development teams
•  Develop and implement clinical and business strategies designed to maximize awareness, brand choice, clinic through-put and sales
•  Compile and analyse weekly/monthly sales opportunities and probabilities
•  Directly develop and support the 3 year plan for the business

Clinical Support:

•  Responsible for full surgical, technical and clinical support to defined territory CI centres and additional centres when required
•  Provision of telephone support for clinical troubleshooting of CI systems
•  Maintain and administer the Cochlear helpline on a rota basis in conjunction with other members of the CI team
•  Provision of installation service for new software releases
•  Provision of presentation materials and clinical guidelines
•  Assist with coordination of clinical trials


•  Provision of implant integrity testing and report findings
•  Cochlear Implant specific electrophysiological testing such as NRT and eABRS
•  Provide clinical troubleshooting / MAPping  and  upgrades


•  Provision of training on CI software and products to new and existing customers
•  Provision of training on CI specific electrophysiological testing such as NRT and eABRS
•  Identify opportunities and develop proposals for new learning and development activity
•  Training evaluation including analysis, trends and return on investment
•  Develop and deliver externally focused customer training and provision of bespoke training courses
•  Training evaluation including trends and return on investment
•  Present internally and externally as required
•  Assist with training at Cochlear Academy and UK training events as required and authorised jointly by the CI Manager and Learning &   Development Manager

Systems & Process:  

•  Update Cochlear’s internal clinical contact database (Salesforce) with business developments and correspondence and update monthly CI key account management forms
•  Contribute towards collaborative research projects
•  Support the 3 year plan for the business

Knowledge maintenance:

•  Attend at least 2 Cochlear Implant CPD registered events per annum
•  Attendance/involvement at EMEA events, forums and networks
•  Continual review of current research and competitive positioning
•  Attend and contribute to team and cross functional business meetings
•  Maintain and enhance professional qualifications in line with professional body requirements
•  Undertake research projects as required
•  Participate in clinical training development within the L&D EMEA group and regional train the trainer programme
•  Update Cochlear’s internal clinical contact database (Salesforce) with business developments and correspondence and update monthly CI key account management forms
•  Contribute towards collaborative research projects

Key requirements:


•  Clinical and audiological experience with Cochlear Implants
•  University degree: Successful completion of either the BSc in audiology or MSc in audiology or equivalent
•  Proven successful track record in business, sales and clinical / technical areas
•  Previous training experience in a clinical setting
•  Contact database experience
•  Excellent presentation skills
•  Strong computer literacy with PowerPoint expertise
•  Full, clean UK driving license
•  Fluent English


•  Extensive experience in cochlear implantation both clinically and in business
•  Proven track record of sales, business acumen, marketing and negotiation skills at a strategic level
•  Training experience in the healthcare sector
•  Strong goal orientation and self motivation
•  Clear and confident presentation and training skills as well as extensive training and coaching experience in the audiology field
•  Confident interpersonal style
•  Team orientation
•  Flexibility
