Job Description

We are seeking a Test Systems Engineer, reporting to the Director – Cochlear Malaysia, to be based in our Kuala Lumpur Office. In this role, the successful candidate is required to provide efficient and timely, high quality electronics and test system services support to Manufacturing.

Responsibilities include:

1) Maintenance Support  

  • Repair and upgrade test systems & electronic equipment to ensure all production equipment is running to full capacity. Ensure adequate spares to meet the above requirement.
  • Provide solutions to identified production problems with particular reference to day-to-day running of the processes as identified in Fast Response and Activity lists.
  • Assist Maintenance and Calibration team as and when required.
  • Investigate devices failing in line testers, Carryout FA to determine the cause and implement corrective action.

2) Development Projects

  • Design improvements to existing electronic systems and develop basic electronic systems to improve production throughput.
  • Upgrade existing test systems and equipment to replace obsolete Hardware & software.
  • Build and Introduce new Instances to meet the Production requirements.
  • Software Change and release to support new build standards and fixing of production issues.

3) Interdepartmental

  • Review D & D test system design to ensure they meet production requirements with regard to execution time, maintainability, OH&S, reliability and are adequately documented.
  • Participate in Test system D & D activities during test system development & verification and get trained so that test systems can be supported in production with minimum D & D assistance.
  • Understand test systems requirements from Regulatory and Quality Systems perspective by interacting with these functions and formulate V & V process and documentations.

4) Quality and Regulatory Requirements

  • Follow work instructions, working procedures and all relevant requirements.
  • Performs all work duties in a manner that ensures the health & safety of all employees.

Immediately report all incidents, accidents, hazards or unsafe work conditions to management

 

You Bring Your Skills and Experience

To add value to Cochlear in this role, you'll be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience:

Minimum:

  • Degree in electronics engineering.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in Maintenance or Development of Medical Electronics product Test systems.
  • PC skills – board level repair of PCs, software installation and basic networking. Ability to configure PCs from OS installation to full operation.
  • Electronic equipment Maintenance & repair – Repair of PC based test equipment and the electronics subsystems to component level.
  • Programming – Understanding of LabView, Test stand, C and C++, Python software. Ability to maintain and perform simple upgrades to software.
  • Familiar with Medical Industry standards and test system qualification requirements.
  • Project Development & management skills – Familiar with Project Lifecycle and PMP Tools.
  • Spare Parts Maintenance and Planning

Ideal:

  • Degree in electronics engineering.
  • 5 years of Work experience in Design & Development of PC Based Test systems using NI Add-on Cards / modules and LabView & Test Stand.
  • PC skills – board level repair of PCs, software installation and basic networking. Ability to configure PCs from OS installation to full operation.
  • Design experience in Electronic equipment using RF, Analog and digital technologies.
  • Certified Developer in LabView, C and C++, Python software. Ability to develop test system applications from scratch.
  • Technical writing skills capable of creating qualification Protocols & Reports and other test system related technical documentation to conform to Medical Industry standards.
  • Experience in Electronic Test system qualification and usage of statistical tools like Gage R & R, MiniTab.
  • Project Development & management skills – Familiar with Project Lifecycle and PMP Tools.
  • Spare Parts Maintenance and Planning
