Job Description

We are seeking a Maintenance Technician, reporting to the Director – Cochlear Malaysia, to be based in our Kuala Lumpur Office. In this role, the successful candidate will undertake maintenance and calibration of manufacturing equipment in accordance with Cochlear's Quality System.

Responsibilities include:

1) Maintenance & Calibration

  • Perform maintenance & calibration activities to schedule
  • Carry out repairs to equipment and facilities in a timely manner
  • Ensure that manufacturing equipment and facilities are in compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Liaise with internal customers and external contractors to ensure timely performance of duties

2) Documentation

  • Complete all necessary documentation in a timely manner

3) WHS Responsibilities

  • Immediately reporting all incidents, accidents, hazards or unsafe work conditions to management
  • Participation in incident investigations as required
  • Understanding of the company’s emergency evacuation procedures
  • Performing all work duties in a manner that ensures the health and safety of all employees

4) General Responsibilities

  • Assist the Maintenance and Calibration department to meet business requirements
  • Adhere to current Good Manufacturing Practice
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives
  • Provide expertise and advice on technical issues both within and beyond the M&C Department
  • Act as a mentor to others

 

You Bring Your Skills and Experience

As a regulated company, Cochlear has a responsibility to hire people with the right skills and qualifications to do the work. To add value to Cochlear in this role, you'll be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience:

Minimum:

  • Engineering Trade qualified (Electrical, Electronics, Tool Making, Mechanical/Fitting)
  • 4+ years’ experience from a lean manufacturing operations environment

Ideal:

  • Experience in a medical device or pharmaceutical manufacturing environment
  • Post trade qualifications to a higher Engineering level (Advanced Certificate, Diploma of Engineering)
  • Cross Trade qualifications (Dual Trade Qualified, Restricted Electrical License, Fluid Power)
  • Exposure to TPM and RCM methodologies
