Senior DSP EngineerDepartment: D&D Enabling Technologies Reporting to: Principal DSP Engineer Purpose of role To be part of the team that implements Cochlear’s speech and sound coding algorithms, using digital signal processing (DSP). To take part in the evaluation and/or development of new speech and sound coding algorithms for hearing instruments. Accountabilities and associated responsibilities DSP Design and Implementation DSP speech and sound coding algorithm design and implementation in assembly language Research and development of new algorithms, including Matlab/Simulink implementations Verification and validation (with CI recipients) of speech and sound coding algorithms Project Management Manages small projects within the DSP Team from start to finish Key competencies Assembly language programming for fixed-point DSPs (Digital Signal Processors) Behavioral and algorithmic DSP modeling in Matlab and/or Simulink Familiarity with DSP structures such as FFT, IIR and FIR filters Desire to work in a team based development environment Key requirements Honours degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent 4+ years experience as a DSP Engineer in audio or related signal processing |
