Senior Systems Engineer

We are seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to join our Design & Development team at our global headquarters in Sydney. Reporting to the Principal Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for developing new products for our recipients through the application of system engineering best practice. Working as part of a cross-functional development team, you will provide innovation solutions to technical problems in a highly regulated industry. Within the team, you will be the technical and process expert in systems engineering and able to supervise the systems work of other Engineers.

Key Responsibilities 

  • System engineering: Resolve & communicate system level design decisions to ensure products are delivered on time and to a high quality; Contribute to key product development through the application of system engineering practice and expertise; Lead and interface with cross-functional teams to deliver holistic solutions for the customer; Develop & manage system requirements and requirements traceability; Direct and participate in design reviews; Plan & manage the product systems integration including release planning and documentation; Product verification & validation of new products; Diagnose & identify product issues in relation to systems engineering root cause.
  • Technical Direction & Skill Building: Improve Cochlear’s system engineering capability by training others in new practices, methods and tools.

Key Requirements

  • Engineering/Science degree (Electrical or System Engineering preferred)
  • Strong understanding of systems engineering principles, methods and tools that are appropriate for the development of medical and/or consumer electronics devices
  • Significant experience in engineering design and verification, preferably with embedded software of firmware controlled electro mechanical products
  • Understanding of technical architecture and application of Cochlear products (desirable).
