About the role
In order to help Cochlear support its products in the field, we are recruiting for a Clinical Support Engineer in our Americas head office based in Centennial.
To be successful in this role you’ll be able to use your skills as a Clinical Support Engineer and experience in clinical or surgical settings to develop tools for the investigation of field issues and propose solutions to those issues. You will also be able to use those skills to help train the field force at large on scientific concepts related to the function of our products. You’ll work collaboratively with clinical, regulatory, sales, marketing, operations and our global manufacturing partners to address technical issues arising during various portions of the product lifecycle. This technical role is responsible for providing acute and sustaining engineering support to internal and external customers.
In this role you'll have the opportunity to make a significant contribution to Cochlear's successful history of innovation by applying your knowledge of biomedical engineering to field issues. You will know you've been successful in this role when you have analyzed and synthesized the feedback provided by customers about field issues, escalated this feedback and provided solutions directly to that customer or through the field force serving those customers. This role is not a product development role; it is a true field engineering role providing advanced product support for medical devices.
- Provides feedback on technical issues and helps identify areas for product improvement based on customer feedback
- Provides technical guidance to field staff, including developing tools for Field Investigations
- Provides technical training and education
- Provides advanced product support for medical devices including all components of cochlear implants
- Travel to customer sites (clinics, hospitals, surgery centers, etc.) for product investigations, attend surgeries and train customers and field staff as needed.
To add value to Cochlear in this role you'll be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience in your application and at interview you will:
- Master’s Degree in Biomedical Engineering, Engineering, or related field with minimum of 5 years’ experience in electronics or medical device support or validation. Implantable device field support highly preferred.
- Must be able to travel up to 40% of the time.
- Demonstrate how your experience in a medical/regulated setting (other medical industry /hospital environment) could translate to being a clinical engineer at Cochlear Americas
- Demonstrate how well you convey concepts using your verbal and written communication skills
- Provide examples of your experience using software and hardware measurement equipment
- Provide examples of how you have or how you would interact effectively with allied health professionals, like engineers, physicians and the public at large given previous work experience
- Provide examples of how you have applied laboratory/bench-based practices/procedures to field problems
