Position Overview / Purpose:
The Financial Accountant is responsible for the daily accounting and financial activities, including Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable and General Ledger of the Korea business and providing support to the Finance & Administration Director, Korea. They will be responsible for local tax filing as well as preparation of other periodic and ad hoc reporting and analysis.  
 
Accountabilities: 
Accountability 1: Processing and monitoring Accounts Payable and expenses

  • Review, code, verify and enter staff expense claims, ensuring claims comply with company policies and requirements prior to processing
  • Review, code, verify and enter supplier invoices, ensuring invoices comply with company policies and requirements prior to processing
  • Prepare daily payment documentation and filing for HSBC approval 

 
Accountability 2: Timely and accurate completion of Accounts Receivable transitions and Cash Management

  • Ensure account transactions are identified and updated daily
  • Communicate with various stakeholder groups to ensure issues are clarified regarding transactions on customer accounts
  • Timely circulation of customer invoices and statements: 
    1. Daily invoice/adjustment notes verification and dispatch
    2. Monthly customer statement review and dispatch
  • Timely execution of bank documents, Letters of Credit, Cash Against Documents and related payment instruments. 
  • Timely daily receipting and banking – Oracle postings and allocation to customer accounts
  • Customer query handling and associated reconciliations
  • Produce monthly debtors report in a timely manager 
  • Collect cash from customers walk-ins via the Customer Service team, ensuring the cash I accurately accounted for in a timely manner and deposited into company bank account(s)
  • Regularly update cash statement reporting collection and payments made during the period
  • Maintain bank accounts, including visiting bank and communicating with the banks on process improvements, as required

 
Accountability 3: Completeness and accuracy of tax/VAT

  • Prepare and complete Accounts Payable related statutory tax filing 
  • Maintain and complete withholding tax settlement for temporary employees

 
Accountability 4: Maintenance of office assets

  • Manage and maintain assets (including laptop, desk, phone, refrigerator, server); ensuring no assets are missing or lost. 
  • Label and track all assets, ensuring each individual staff member is assigned to the appropriate assets and updating as required

 
Accountability 5: Continuous Improvement

  • Continuously provide input for process improvements
  • Provide guidance to Cochlear Korea employees on internal controls to ensure audit compliance and minimise risk for processes
  • Ensure the team works in accordance with approved company operating policies, procedures, practices and methods

 
Team Role (Individual contributor): 

  • Follow relevant quality procedures in order to deliver quality products and services and identify and support the implementation of continuous improvement. Undertake additional quality responsibilities (e.g. audit) when appropriately trained to undertake these responsibilities.
  • Contribute ideas on systems and process methods to improve deliverables.
  • Work safely, complying with all safety procedures, rules and instructions; and reporting workplace hazards, incidents or injuries to manager.

 
 Key Incumbent requirements:
 
Minimum:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance and/or Accounting
  • Minimum 3+ years experience in Accounting and Finance
  • Excellent English communication skills – both verbal and written
  • Excellent collaborative and learning skills – with demonstrable examples over career
  • Analytical ability to provide financial consulting to local team
  • Ability to manage and align stakeholders proactively
  • Mindset for continuous improvement and innovation

 
Ideal:

  • Experience working on Oracle ERP 
  • Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) experience in a multinational corporation in the medical devices industry
  • Exposure to the Asia Pacific environment
