The Customer Software, Clinical and Research Platforms department is currently looking for a Senior Software Engineer based in our location in Mechelen. 

The Senior Software Engineer is to become part of a cross-functional team working on the next generation software platform that will be used by future hearing solutions. This platform will allow the interaction between implants, sound processors, and fitting software.

You will be responsible for implementing code in C# and C++ adhering to the requirements and guidelines set by the team and provide proof of test coverage by means of unit and integration testing.

 

 Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, prototype and verify software libraries developed in C#, as well as interfacing with the functionalities implemented in firmware and other software libraries Also, when needed, contribute to development of software libraries in C++
  • Analytical mindset, with an ability to see both the big picture and the details
  • Find solutions to difficult problems outside the standard solution, identify and recommend significant improvements to products
  • Contribute to engineering analysis activities including brainstorming, concept generation, risk analysis, and design reviews
  • Write and maintain technical documentation
  • Follow all applicable development & verification processes and methodologies in order to deliver quality products and services and identify and support the implementation of continuous improvement
  • Document & report developments and progress clearly
  • Collaborate to an open and effective communication between firmware, software and system team-members involved in the project

 

Key requirements:

You will have a strong technical background and your role will focus on software development, but you will be given opportunities to collaborate with the representatives of other hardware and software components and help transform our products to respond to customer’s needs. You will work in a highly agile cross-functional team that has the autonomy and control needed to shape product direction and ensure the continued success of the products you work on.

To add value to Cochlear in this role you'll be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience:

  • University degree in software or software engineering
  • Passionate developer with >5 years working with C#. Knowledge of C++ and managed C++
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a full cycle commercial software development environment
  • Familiar with Agile development
  • Affinity with the hardware-software interface
  • Analytical mindset, with an ability to see both the big picture and the details
  • Proven experience in handling requirements and design documents
  • Good written and verbal communication skills in English
