The Role

In order to help Cochlear bring new products to market that help people with hearing loss, we are recruiting for a Business Controller to support our new manufacturing site in Chengdu China

To be successful in this role you'll together with the Director Finance Business Partnering – SC&OE & IT, provide financial partnership for the Chengdu Operations. You are expected to be involved in the setting up of the processes and systems of the finance function prior to the opening of the site, as well as managing the gradual ramp up of the activities within the site while the Regulatory approvals are being obtained. As this is a new team being formed, this role will also be expected to be hands on and assist the Accountant with the daily transactional and operational tasks.

Key Requirements

To add value to Cochlear in this role you'll be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience in your application and at interview:

  • Qualification in accounting or other post-grad finance discipline with 10+ years commercial experience. Would suit person with professional background such as CPA, CIMA or Chartered
  • Strong experience in a manufacturing accounting environment, including developing standard costs and managing the costing/inventory system
  • Fluent English/Chinese speaking
  • Experience in Tier 1 systems including Oracle, BI (preferably Hyperion)
  • Strong command of English (written and verbal) and experience working in a multinational organization
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop a team
  • Strong in Microsoft Excel with good working knowledge of MS Powerpoint and WordStrong attention to detail and meticulous approach to accuracy of financial models
  • An enquiring mindset, the ability to conceptualise, and enthusiasm to follow through on ideas
