 About the role

In order to help Cochlear continue to grow and service our customers, we are recruiting for an Senior Buyer based in our new warehouse location in Centennial, CO.

In alignment with our organizational principle of providing a safe work environment, and in order to comply with new requirements for contractors of the Federal Government, all US-based employees of Cochlear Americas are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. To be successful in this role you’ll be able to lead the purchasing operations, personal and vender management. Procure, source, and negotiate the buying of equipment, tools, marketing collateral, packaging materials, parts, services, and/or supplies necessary for operations of Cochlear Americas. You’ll work collaboratively with local and global supply chain operations, vendors, clinical, regulatory, sales and quality to ensure product availability and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provides direction to the Purchasing team with an emphasis on teamwork, quality and engagement. Conduct evaluations and development planning as per company guidelines and processes, lead recruitment, hiring, training and performance management.
  • Facilitates coordination of product lifecycle management for locally sourced items, including Receiving Inspection activities with Quality/Marketing, releases to stock, physical removal/addition of inventory, Oracle transactions, obsolescence, scrapping, and records management.
  • Evaluates strategic sourcing of the correct products and services required by the user departments and supports RFQ / RFP documents in accordance with company policies. Verifies specifications, quotes, analyzes bid responses, and makes fiscally and operationally sound recommendations to internal stakeholders.
  • Addresses purchasing inquiries by identifying requirements and analyses of statistical data to determine feasibility of buying products and to establish price objectives, monitors supplier performance and negotiates with suppliers to determine lowest cost consistent with quality, reliability, and ability to meet required schedules.
  • Manage and lead vendor management and Supplier Quality activities. Manages Quality‐related tasks such as NCRs (non‐conformance reports) and SCARs (Supplier Corrective Active Reports) pertaining to supplier and/or product issues. Works closely with Quality on any issue resolution required and assists with conducting supplier audits. Tracks and documents metrics for Supplier Quality, delivery, and performance and service; notifies management and follows through on issue resolution according to direction from management or Quality.
  • Creates, maintains, and revises Procurement Specifications, procedures, work instructions and forms pertaining to Purchasing operations, Supplier Quality Assurance, and other pertinent areas of oversight; ensures appropriate parties are trained to required controlled documents.

  • Bachelors or Equivalent Work Experience
  • 3-5 Years of Experience
  • Experience in negotiations and supplier management
  • Experience working with Oracle-based purchasing system/module or comparable procurement software systems.
  • Experience in developing and improving processes within an operations or supply chain business environment.
  • Proven track-record managing priorities to tight timelines, balancing multiple tasks with competing deadlines and working effectively with cross-functional teams to meet the needs of the business.

In addition to the opportunity to develop your knowledge and grow professionally, we offer competitive wages and benefits. The Target Salary Range is $70,000 - $80,000 as well as a bonus of 7.5% of base salary.
