The Opportunity

Cochlear has the opportunity for a Director IT Portfolio Management to join us on a permanent basis at our Sydney office. This Project Portfolio Management leadership role will be involved incorporating project prioritisation, scheduling, allocation and delivery by IT project managers for computer networks .

The Director IT Portfolio Management will provide coaching and mentoring to Information Technology Project Managers. This leadership role plays an integral role in delivering benefits to Cochlear in alignment with the strategy of Information Technology.

Your responsibilities will include…

  • Ensure Portfolio practice members are engaged and participating through regular events and expertise teams.
  • Contribute to the operating of the Portfolio team and the establishment of computer network practices and standards.
  • Ensure that there are clear specialist skills in supporting and troubleshooting network problems and emergencies
  • Coach and mentor project managers and delivery leads in order to ensure the delivery lifecycle and methods are understood and aligned to Portfolio practice guidelines.
  • Define and Implement IT project governance and compliance processes and tools to manage the IT project pipeline for.
  • Ensure strong collaboration with business strategy areas with regards to project reporting and resource planning.
  • Provide guidance in evaluating and monitoring network infrastructure to ensure networks operate at high performance.
  • Allocate computer network projects to IT project managers in alignment with business priorities.
  • Provide overall leadership and direction for specific project initiatives undertaken by the Information Technology area ensuring project objectives are aligned and comply with organisational goals, strategy and project objectives.
  • Allocate resources to troubleshooting network problems.
  • Allocate network programming resources to support of specific business needs and requirements.

About You:

Minimum:

  • Experience in the management and implementation of IT Projects including stakeholder and change management aspects.
  • Experience integrating Information Technology solutions and business process improvement.
  • Experience in utilising Project life cycles and Project Management methodologies
  • Ability to lead and motivate project teams and to achieve project deliverables on time and within budget.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively at different levels of the organization and across functional disciplines.
  • Skilled in the use of Microsoft Project.

Ideal:

  • Qualification and/or knowledge in Project Management such as PMP, Prince II.
  • Experience in managing project delivery in the Oracle e-Business space.

By working collaboratively with a global organisation and operations teams based in the United States, Europe and the Asia Pacific region the Director IT Portfolio Management will apply their skills to develop Project Management maturity. This role offers exposure to the largest footprint of Oracle e-Business Suite ERP solution in Australia.
