Staff Accountant II

About the role

As Cochlear continues to grow and service our customers, we are recruiting for a Staff Accountant II in our Americas head office based in Lone Tree, CO. This role offers a hybrid work environment with a combination of in-office and remote work from home.

In this role you’ll report directly to the Accounting Operations Manager.  Your primary responsibilities will be cash management for all North American entities, intercompany cross charges and maintaining the fixed asset module.  You’ll be responsible for mid-level journal entries and associated account reconciliations as they pertain to your position.  The Staff Accountant will work closely with other Cochlear regions and other team members within the Organization to assist in the completion of key tasks, in addition to maintaining our banking relationship.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manages cash function of the company, including reconciling all daily cash transactions for North America
  • Prepares the rolling cash forecast on a monthly basis
  • Researches cash discrepancies, sends required wires and bank transfers, researches stale-dated checks and manages the unclaimed property process
  • Manages intercompany accounts: sends and receives intercompany cross charges, maintains relationships with counterparts in other regions and prepares required account reconciliations
  • Maintains fixed assets including additions, retirements, and depreciation
  • Prepares and maintains Cochlear Canada's GL
  • Prepares mid-level journal entries and balance sheet account reconciliations as assigned
  • Assists department with documenting finance and accounting processes and determining best practices
  • Assists with the month-end financial preparation and reconciliation, including quarterly and year-end audit work-paper preparation
  • Other duties and projects as assigned


Key Requirements

To add value to Cochlear in this role you'll be able to meet and demonstrate the following knowledge, skills and abilities in your application and at interview:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration
  • Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience
  • Strong knowledge and experience using Microsoft Excel for extracting and analyzing financial data
  • Prior experience with Oracle is a plus
  • Basic knowledge of computer technology in its application to financial accounting and control

Schedule:

Regular business hours. In order complete reporting requirements, there will be some evening and weekend hours required to ensure all deadlines related to financial reporting are met.

In addition to the opportunity to develop your knowledge and grow professionally, we offer competitive wages and benefits.  The Target Salary Range is $62,000 - $72,000 per year, based upon experience, as well as a bonus of 7.5% of base salary.
