Reimbursement Collections Specialist (Medical Billing & Collections Specialist)  (Remote)

About the role

In order to help support Cochlear’s recipients, we are hiring a Medical Collections Specialist in our Americas head office based in Lone Tree, CO. We are accepting applications for remote and local candidates.

To be successful in this role, you will provide exceptional service by acting with a sense of urgency to perform collection follow-up with Government insurance carriers regarding open accounts receivable and/or delinquent accounts, while demonstrating a high degree of knowledge, integrity, and empathy in all aspects of team performance and operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Billing and collecting payments from government health insurance carriers by resolving denials, appealing claims, contacting carriers on open accounts and responding to insurance carrier correspondence  and/or inquiries.
  • Pursue reimbursement of services rendered and achieve accounts receivable resolution.
  • Work through open accounts receivables (denials and delinquent accounts) by actively calling payer organizations or utilizing web-based online portals.
  • Provide exceptional customer service while showing empathy to others.

In this role you'll have the opportunity to make a significant contribution to Cochlear's successful history of innovation and delivering on our mission by applying your knowledge of medical billing/collections to pursue reimbursement of services.

Key Requirements

To add value to Cochlear in this role you'll be able to meet and demonstrate the following knowledge, skills and abilities in your application and at interview:

  • Bachelors Degree with 2-3 years of equivalent work experience OR High school Diploma/GED with 6+ years of experience. 
  • Familiarity with medical terminology, claims processing guidelines, and federal insurance regulations
  • Working knowledge of basic A/R principles, health insurance plans, Medicare, Medicaid and Explanation of Benefits (EOBs)

Target Salary Rate for this position: $22.60 - 25.00 per hour as well as an annual bonus opportunity of 5% of base salary.
